HASTINGS POST OFFICE.
WORK OF RECONSTRUCTION. COMPLETION IN MONTH'S TIME. The work of rebuilding the Hastings post office, which was damaged extensively during the disastrous Hawke's Bay earthquake last year, is now well advanced, and is likely to be completed within a month. Tho contract was let to the Fletcher Construction Company, Limited, for £12,000, and work was commenced about eight weeks ago.
Tho rebuilding involved strengthening the portion which survived the earthquake, and reconstructing the remainder in steel and reinforced concrete. The building, which is of two storeys, will house tho postal, telephone and telegraph departments.
