CHARGE OF MURDER.

LABOURER ARRESTED.

DEATH OF LITTLE GIRL. UPPER HUTT SENSATION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRF.SS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Saturday. The arrest of Horace Frank Livermoro was made early this morning on a charge of murdering Vera Forster, agod four and a-half years. The body of the litflo girl was found on Friday evening in scrub at Maori Bank, Upper Hutt. Livermoro was detained soon after the discovery of the child's body and charged with murder at 2 a.m. He was brought to Wellington by detectives and appeared before Mr. T. B. McNeil, S.M. Ho is a single man, and was employed by [Mr. Forster as a labourer. Ho had been living with the Forsters since September last.

Livermore was remanded until Friday on tho application of Sub-Inspector Ward. The little gill's body was discovered about 100 yards from the home of tho parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Valentine Forster. Sho was the youngest of four children.

She had been playing round tho house during the morning, and her absence was not noticed by her parents until about noon. The parents then became anxious and notified tho police. A search party was organised and the aid of about 40 helpers enlisted. The locality is sparsely populated, tho near by hills being covered with dense scrub.

Shortly before 9 p.m. two youths noticed a splash of colour in tho scrub, and on investigation discovered the girl's body. Lying near the dead girl was a piece of iron piping about two feet in length and almost an inch and a-half in thickness. It was stained with blood.

Tho case is said to bo unparalleled in tho history of the district. The girl's parents are natives of England and have lived in the district for tho past- eight years. Mr. Forster has a poultry farm.
