"FIRE WORSHIP" IN SCOTLAND.
The ceremony of the " burning clavie " has been observed in the small Scottish fishing village of Burghead -n Morayshire. The ceremony is a speciea of fire worship. A barrel is filled *ith tar and taken by a crew to the top °1 a hill in the towu, where it is setonhie. While the barrel is blazing fiercely the skipper of the crew hacks it with anaxe and the blazing splinters seized bj villagers, who rush through the streets and throw them into open doois. iru ceremony is intended to keep awajr spirits for the year,
