GIFT TO PRINCESS.
BURNED MODEL COTTAGE. INCENDIARISM IDEA SCOUTED. LONDON, March 20. The fire which burned the model cottagu presented to Princess Elizabeth by "Welsh craftsmen was caused by a spark from a steam tractor alighting on the thatch. It "will certainly be rebuilt in readiness for the Princess' birthday. Most of the interior is little damaged. The model was being conveyed from Cardiff to the London Ideal Homes Exhibition at Olympia. It was 22 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 16 feet high, weighed-10 tons, and was equipped with hot and cold water and electric light. So pleased was the Duchess of York with the gift when it was shown to her prior to the accident that she switched on the electric light, used the telephone and said, " I could play in it for ever myself." An insurance company paid the Duke of York, as his daughter's guardian, on a £750 policy. A Cardiff official says the suggestion of incendiarism is ridiculous. '"-Ihe cottage could incense nobody; it cost nothing, and assisted in relieving distress."
