THE SOUTHERN CROSS. After undergoing an extensive overhaul at, North Wall the Mission steamer Southern Cross was removed to Kind's Wharf on Thursday to complete refitting in preparation for her coming cruise to the mission stations in the south-west Pacific. She is scheduled to sail on April 11. THE PIAKO. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Piako arrived at Wellington from Cardiff in bnllast on Thursday. After loading a large Quantity of produce at Wellington the vessel is to sail for Auckland at the end of this week to her cargo. She is scheduled to clear Auckland for London, via Montevideo and Las Palmas. on April fi. The vessel made a non-stop voyage from Cardiff to Wellington in 47 days. She did not call at any port en route to refuel becnuse sufficient spare bunker coal for the voyage was carried in Nos. 2 and 3 holds. NEW STEAMER TRIONA. The British Phosphate Commission's steamer Triona arrived from Naijiu Island yesterday morning, and berthed at Western Wharf to replenish her oil fuel bunkers. Tomorrow morning she will be removed to King's Wharf to unload her cargo of 0400 tons of phosphates to the agency of Henderson and Macfarlane, Limited. She is a new vessel of 4413 tons gross and was built at Olasgow last year bv Harland and WoIJI. I imited. In addition to phosphate carrying she is used for transporting native labour and there is special eouipment on board for lifting and laying heavy moorings.
