AUCKLAND DOMAIN.
Sir, —Some little timo ago the Mayor and city engineer brought forward a proposal to put another road through our Domain for the motorist. The scheme was brought down as one to relieve the traffic on Grafton Bridge, but such an outcry was raised that the idea was dropped. It has now been brought up in a new form. Now the proposal is to have a road made so as to make easier access to the sports ground. Are tho people getting so weak that <hey must drive right on to a sports ground or they will stay at home ? In the old days those who were real sports used to walk from Ponsonby, Mount Eden, I'arnell and Rcmuera out to Potter's Paddock and back, almost every Saturday, to see good football matches. Apart from reducing the area of the Domain—it was originally 400 acres, now under 300—we must think of tho children, and. keep it a safe place for them to be in and to play in. We must put the children before the motorist every time. R.II.
