HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. FURTHER HEAVY RAIN. Tlio following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:— 1110 tropical disturbance referred to in Saturday's report moved on to northern New Zealand during the week-end, although barometric pressure lias remained high over the Dominion. Expect cloudy to overcast weather with additional rain throughout the Auckland Province. Torrential rain is expected in northern and east coast districts, with flooded rivers. Mainly fair to fine in southeiyi areas. Northerly to north-easterly winds, model ato to strong, freshening and veering to south-east. Rough seas on the east coast ; smooth to moderato seas on the west coast. Local outlook : Further heavy rain is indicated. Thunder probable. Conditions should improve after abqut 12 hours. Cool temperatures. Barometer, midnight. steady .. 30.25 in. Midnight, Saturday .. 30.25 in. Tempera 111 re in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 70deg.; Minimum, GOdeg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—An intense anticyclone still envelops New Zealand, with its centro over the southern portion. A vigorous depression has moved on to south-eastern Australia to-day. Indications are for moderate to fresh southeasterly to easterly winds from Cook Strait northwards, elsewhere moderate northerly, northerly winds later becoming general and freshening. Seas rather rough on the cast coast of the North Island, elsewhere, smooth to moderate. In the eastern Tasmari Sea moderate easterly winds, backing to norlherlies and freshening. Seas moderate, but rising. '1 he weather will bo fair to fine for the most part but still somo passing misty showers along the east coast north of Kaikoura and in the far north. Shortly, however, conditions becoming unsettled in western districts, with rain developing, '.temperatures becoming milder. RAINFALL RECORD. Fall in city (TTriiald pause).
