LEVEL CROSSING SIGNAL.

FAULTY WORKING ALLEGED. COMPLAINTS AT MANGERE. Complaints that the signalling system at the Mangere railway crossing had not been functioning recently arid had endangered traffic were voiced at the Otahuhu Borough Council meeting on Thurs day. Mr. J. Trenwith said there had been many instances of motorists crossing tha railway line in front of advancing trains in consequence of the failure of the signalling apparatus. He urged that the Railways Department be asked to maintain the system in working condition. Other members, in giving similar instances, suggested the time period of the signal be altered. The lights commenced to flash when approaching trains were far distant and caused excessive delay to traffic. It was decided to approach the Railways Department.
