WIDOW'S HOPE SHATTERED. From a barmaid to an heiress and then back again behind the bar within a . few hours. That was tho sad experience of a widow at Brighton. England. Mrs. Hilda Borle, of Brighton, Vas serving customers in tho saloon of a hotel where she is employed when she received an inquiry from abroad regarding her lato husband, who died 12 years ago. As her lato father-in-law was tho owner of a hotel in Switzerland, her mind immediately turned to legacies, and within an hour it was rumoured that sho had inherited a huge fortune. What actually happened was that the manager of a. hotel where Mrs. Borle s late husband was formerly employed received a letter from his sister. The sister was apparently ignorant of her brother's death, ami asked the manager to furnish her with his address so that, she could notify him of the death of their mother.
