TRANSPORT SERVICES.
LONG PASSENGER ROUTES. FOUR APPLICATIONS GRANTED. A number of applications for the granting of long-distanco passenger service licences from Auckland to country centres were heard by the Central Licensing Authority at its second sitting in Auckland on Saturday. Mr. S. S. Allen, of Morrinsville, presided, and with him was Mr. 11. B. S. Johnstone, of Otaio, Canterbury, Applications were granted in the following instances : —Rotorua Motor Transport Company, Limited, Gisborne to Rotorua, via Motu Hills and Waioeka Valley; J. 0. Musgrave, Gisborne to Whakatane, via Motu Hills and Waioeka Valley; WaihiPaeroa Transport Company, Limited, Auckland to Waihi; Edwards Motors, Auckland to Te Aroha. In most cases the granting of a licence was subject to certain conditions governing the number of vehicles to be operated, the provision of proper goods and parcels schedules, and the picking up or setting down of passengers in certain areas. In the following cases decision was deferred until to-day:—Bay of Plenty Motors, Limited, Auckland to Tauranga; YVaihi-Paeroa Transport Company, Limited, Auckland to Tauranga. The following cases, set down for Saturday, will be heard to-day: Mitchells C.M.C. Service, Napier to Rotorua and Gisborne to Rotorua; Hawke's Bay Motor Company, Limited, Napier to Wairakei; Aard, Napier owner-drivers, Napier to Wairakei; C.M.C. Motor Service. Auckland to New Plymouth; Gibson's Motors, Limited, Auckland to New Plymouth: Checker Taxicab Company, Limited, Auckland to New Plymouth.
