SCHOOL PUPILS' TEETH.
PAYMENT FOR NURSES. BURDEN UPON COMMITTEES. As ;i result of school committees being called upon to pay £3O a yea V for each dental clinic nurse supplied by tlio Government, it has been decided by the Ponsonby Schools' Committee that if one nurse can cope with the work at the Ponsonby clinic, only one will be retained. At present two nurses arc engaged, the clinic providing a service for the children of four schools.
Tlio money for the clinics ig raised by voluntary contributions, but it is felt that in view.of the difficult times, parents would not be able to make further voluntary efforts, and that the committee should .not havo to call upon them to do so. If it is found that one nurse cannot deal with the children offering, the position will be reviewed in three months' time. It is stated that as far as the committee is concerned the children will not Suffer.
