ROTORUA TOURNAMENT. WIN FOR AUCKLAND PAIR. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] KOTORFA; Friday. The final match in tho Rotorua pairs bowling tournament was plqyed this morning between Bardie Neil and Maxwell Walker (Auckland) and Butt and Richards (Rotorua). Walker won by 22 points to 17. The weather was fine, with a gusty wind, which somewhat hampered play. There was a Kood attendance of spectators. A good exhibition of bowls was given and although Butt and Richards played well, tho Aucklanders never seemed to bo seriously threatened. The first six heads gave Walker a good lead of nine points, Richards scoring only one against his opponents' 10. Some good play in the seventh head by Richards added five points to the score and another two points were secured by the Rotorua team in tho next two heads. Thn tenth, a short head, was won by Walker with two points. Interesting play was witnessed in the '1 tli head. Richards, with a good shot, drew oji kitty for two and Walker, with a brilliant bowl, drew absolute. Richards retrieved his position with a good drive, securing two points. »Tho scores at this juncture were:—Walker. 12; Richards, 10. Butt and Hardin Neil played some good shots in the 12th head, which finished with another point in Richards' favour. In the Kith head, Walker drew the absolute and Richards missed the head with a drive, Walker scoring another three. Four more were add'-d by Walker in the 14th and 15th heads and Richards scored a point in each of tho next two heads. In the 18th head, Richards played a good shot, touching kitty, which secured two points. Walker won two points in the 20th head and although Richards took another point in tho last head, the game ended:— Walker, 22; Richards, 17. GILMOUR CUP MATCHES. Following are the results of Gilmour Cup matches played between members of Papatoetoe and Howick Bowling Clubs. Papatoetoe names taking precedence in each case:— Crawford, Walker, S. [from our own correspondent.] WHAXGAREI, Friday. A strong wind made playing conditions somewhat difficult on the. Whangarei Bowling Club's greens yesterday. Jn regard to the championship singles, the winners of the various sections were ascertained as follows: —Saturday sections, A and B were won by H. Harrison and R. 11. Allan; and the winners of sections A and B of the Thursday section were F. Coburn and C. Coote. The semi-finals and final will be played next week.
