BRIDGE AT KARAPIRO.
NEW STRUCTURE URGED. [FBOM . Otm OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] CAMBRIDGE, Friday. It was reported at the last meeting of the Cambridge Borough Council that repairs to the Karapiro Bridge over the main highway to Rotorua had been completed at a cost of £289, the estimate being £3OO. The superviser, Mr. S. R. James, said the bridge would last another five years. The Mayor said it would be hard to determine what state the bridge would be in after five years, and he suggested that the council should communicate with the Highways Board in regard to making provision for a new structure. They could go ahead with the approaches for a new bridge, and it would provide work for the unemployed. The suggestion was adopted.
