FAMOUS GERMAN TENOR.
TALKING FILM ENGAGEMENT. London news reports the signing by a certain British producing organisation of the renowned - German singer, Richard Tauber, to make musical films at Elstree. Tauber has had one of the most meteoric rises in the history of the vocal world, and to-day he commands a place in the "Who's Who " of the world as Caruso did before tragedy cut short his brilliant career. Tauber 16 a concert platform personality besides a magnificent singer, and special talkie parts will be selected for him to allow for the full exploitation of his many talents. The German singer earns fabulous sums of money on the concert stage and a hazarded guess places the figure which he is likely to receive for motion picture work at around £IOOO a week, the same as is paid to the musical comedy star, Jack Buchanan, by British Dominions. Tauber's pictures will not be mere " canned concerts," but the very latest in musical film technique will be employed in their, making. This will allow the singer to use his marvellous voice to the very best advantage.
