A ROMANTIC NAME.
SOUTH SEA QUEEN.
A romantic name in tlie Honours List is that of tlie Queen of the Tonga Islands, who lias been matin ati Hon. Damo Commander of l-hesßritish Empire, writes a Londoner. The Tonga, or Friendly Islands, over which a Protectorate was proclaimed in May. 1900, arc situated in the Southern Pacific 390 miles from Fiji in a southeasterly direction. They have an area of 385 square miles, and a native population of 28,000. The Europeans number fewer than 500. The present Queen Salote Tubou succeeded the late King George Tubou 11. in 1918.
