RATES PAID IN HAY.
The Town Council of Merthyr Tyofil, Glamorganshire, has accepted, as an exceptional transaction," a rick of hay, valued at £35, from a local farmer in part payment of arrears of rates. The hay was required for the corporation's horses, and therefore the exertion was made.
