MOTHER FORBIDS WEDDING.
GIRL'S LOVE FOR SISTER. The 17-year-old Manchester girl who, as stated on this page last week, offered to marry anyone who would provide £2OO lo save (he life of her ailing young sister was not allowed by her parents to go to meet the widower who corresponded with her as a result of her offer. The girl, who is the sten-daugliter of a gardener, wrote to the. Mayor of Bolton telling of their straitened circumstances and tfie illness of her nine-year-old sister. Tier mother said : " We knew nothing of it until the matter was published. It is a noble impulsive offer, actuated by her affection for her little sister, but we shall certainly not allow her to make such a sacrifice.
"All that she wrote about her sister's illness was true. She has been ill for nine years, under doctors all her life and several times in hospital. Two doctors aro attending her now."
