DAIRY MARKET EASIER.

SATISFACTORY CONSUMPTION WEAKER CONTINENTAL POSITION. Continental influences are still affecting n the market in London for New Zealand butter, and as. a result of the slackening of the European demand, New Zealand prices have shaded 2s a cwt. to 108s to 110s since last week. Cheese has also weakened and this week's quotations are 3s a cwt. easier. London stocks of both New Zealand and Australian butter, according to the market survey of A. S. Paterson and Company, are going into consumption in .a satisfactory manner. An indication, of the striking increase in Australian output is contained in the figures the company supplies of Australian shipments to the United Kingdom from July 1, 1931, to February 6, 1932. These totalled 2,296,630 boxes, compared with 1,461,210 boxes in the corresponding previous period, an increase of 835,420 boxes. The Press Association message from London states that the butter market is easier owing to a decreased Continental demand. Danish is quoted at 135s (last, week, 1545); choicest salted New Zealand, 108s to 110s; Australian, 104s to 106s; unsalted New Zealand, 116s; Australian. 112s. The cheese market is quiet. New Zealand white is quoted at 60s; coloured, 61s; Australian, 59s to 60s. In the corresponding week of January, the market was firm, the watermen's strike affecting deliveries. New Zealand finest was quoted at 100s to 102s; Danish, 1265; Australian, 98s to 100s. New Zealand white cheese was quoted at 625; coloured, 60s; Australian, 56s to 58s.
