MAN SENT TO PRISON.

MONEY STOLEN FROM FRIEND

Three months' imprisonment was the sentence passed by Mr. F. Iv. Hunt, S.M., on Nelson Mayes, aged 23, upholsterer, who pleaded guilty in the Police Court yesterday to a charge of stealing £2 12s from a friend with whom he had been living. Accused was stated by Detective-Sergeant Kelly to have three previous convictions. He was atpresent serving a short term of imprisonment for failing to observe a maintenance order. '

A bankrupt baker, Shirley William Mack, who pleaded guilty on Thursday to a charge of failing to keep proper books of accounts in connection with his business, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within three months.

On the application of Mr. Kelly, who said other charges were pending, Robert Hay, aged 38, labourer, wa§ remanded until Thursday on a charge of fraudulently obtaining £2 credit from Oscar Sand in.
