TOWN HALL LIGHTING.
IMPROVEMENTS COMPLETED.
Improvements to the lighting of the Town Hall and concert chamber, which have been in progress for some time under the direction of the city engineer, Mr. J. Tyler, are now practically complete. The electroliers in the main hall, which used to carry 20 small bulbs each, have been refitted with five lights each in large opal globes and have been raised somewhat. The effect is to eliminate glare and increase the intensity of light at the floor-level, while it is estimated that about £4O a year will be saved in cost of current owing to the greater efficiency of the lamps. It is hoped to provide additional lighting for the stage by means of projectors installed in the ventilator recesses in the ceiling. Improvements on the same lines have been made in th® concert chamber.
