THEOLOGICAL TEACHINGATTACK ON RECENT BOOK. [BV Tr.r.EGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Questions dealing with theological teaching and involving an attack on a recent book by Dr. John Dickie, principal bf the Presbyterian Theological College, Dunndin, occupied the Presbyterian General Assembly for tho greater part of this afternoon. 'I he Rev. T. Miller submitted a motion which affirmed tho Church S teaching on The Atonement, and in supporting the motion lie referred to Dr. Dickie's book, " The Organism of Christian Truth," stating that its teaching was not, wholly in accord with Church prinAn amendment bv Mr. b. >T. lipler, and seconded bv Dr. Gi'bb, declared confidence in Dr. Dickie and expressed appreciation of his distinguished services to the Theological Hall and to the Church, and congratulated him on the success of his book. , , ' The motion was lost and the amendment was carried by an overwhelming majority. The morning session of the assembly wao devoted to a survev of the youth work of the Church. The Rev. R, R. Adair was appointed organisms secretary of the Young Men's Bible Class, to be located at Auckland for one year with a view to permanence. The Assembly carried a motion approving of church'union. A ballot, on the question will bo taken among the congregations. . , ~ • Crowds lined the city streetß this evening when 450 clergy and adherents of the Presbyterian Church joined in the "procession of witness" through the city streets, ending in short service at the band rotunda.
