POLITICAL SCANDAL.
PUBLIC FUNDS INVOLVED. CHARGES AGAINST PREMIER. (Received February 24, 5.4. r > p.m.) ST. JOHNS, Feb. 23. Tho Newfoundland House of Assembly to-day agreed to send an address to the Governor, Sir John Middleton, asking him to inquire, into the charges made against the Prime Minister, Sir Richard Squires, by Mr. Peter Cashin, formerly Minister of Finance and Customs. Tho allegations were to the effect that Sir Richard had falsified the minutes of tho Council in order to facilitate the manipulation of public funds.
