A desire for the extension of the Flock House Scheme for the training and aftercare of sons of New Zealand ex-soldiers,' instead of the system of taking drafts of war-orphaned dependants of British seamen was revealed afc a conference held to-day at Flock House. Patriotic associa, tions and returned soldiers' associations from as far north as Auckland and as far south as Otago were represented. Consideration was also given to the cost of maintenanca of New Zealand boys and the methods of providing the necessary finance. It was decided to accept, the offer of the Flock House trustees and recommend that the allocation of boys and finance should be on a population basis and that to this end a central committee, consisting of representatives of the War Funds Council (one), the Returned Soldiers' Association (three), the patriotip associations (three) and the chairman, be set up, with provincial ami district branches, to explore the of providing the finance and to arrange the allocations. In the event of any district not being able to provide either finance or boys, the allocation is to be distributed proportionately over the whole of the Dominion. A report is to be submitted to th# trustees of I lock House on 01 beford March 31.
