CAR FALLS IN HARBOUR.
ACCIDENT AT NORTHCOTE. NARROW ESCAPE OF OCCUPANTS. The occupants of a motor-car, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Knowles, of Roscberry Avenue, Birkenhead, bad an exciting experience at Northcote shortly after noon yesterday when their motor-car fell into the harbour. Mr. Knowles was driving the car into the kerb where motor vehicles are parked at the wharf approach, when the vehicle jumped tho kerb and ran across the footpath, breaking-through the temporary fence on tho path. It. continued its course down tho steep bank, and landed on its four wheels on the harbour bod about 30ft. below. The tide was rereding, but the water reached to about 3in. above tho floor-boards of t|ie car. Mr. and Mrs. Knowles had a miraculous escape from injury. They got out of tho car into the water and waded ashore to the stone retaining wall. Only minor damage was done to the car and it was recovered at low tide. It was towed from the harbour bed and driven away under its own power.
