vided fast footing. The principal event, the Mackenzie Handicap, was won by Knawali, win was at a useful price. The race wa: robbed of interest early through the favourite, Auto Machine, The Abbey and Mountain Dell orenking at the start, Dan Direct won the Forbes ]laiulica[ niter a hard finish with Kewpie's Triumph, the favourites; Great Fairish and Te Wahia, being out of the money. Prior to the first race three two-year, olds paraded. / They were E. 8. Groat'; trotter Mama's Son. G. Phipps' Xclsor Bingen—Lou Billon filly, and L. Mitchell's Kelson Bingen—Lottie Audubon filly. They ran over a mile at a 2.30 gait and each gave a neat display. The totalisator handled £15.897 15s, against £25,424 10s for the second da\ last year, a decrease of £9526 15s or 31 per cent.
