MATCHES AT MATANGI. [from our own correspondent.] HAMILTON, "Wednesday. Two challenge matches for cups held by the Matangi Polo Club* were plr.yed on the. club's ground to-day in fine weather and in the presence of a fair attendance of spectators. A carao between Waiho and Matangi A for the Abbott Cup resulted in a win for the former team. Wailio. which receiver! seven gor.la, scored a further four (T. Hinesj 1, A. Whyte 2, M. Fitzgerald 1); against its opponents score of eight (G. Ranstead 2. It. Ranstead 1, V. Chi'tty 2, J. Shaw 3). The Matangi B team successfully defended a challenge for the Somers . against Cambridge by seven sor.la to nil. G. Peake, who played a sterling game, scored four, and L. Cllitty was responsible for the remainder.
