AWARDS AT WHAKATANE. SPECIAL PRIZES AND CUPS. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] "WHAKATANE, Wednesday. The following points and special prizes have been declared in connection with the recent Whakatane Agricultural and Pastoral Association show:— Circuit Prize for Light Horse and Jumping Events.—J. H. Evans. Circuit prize ior dairy cattle: Neil Carter. Macmillan Cup, for pedigree Jerseys: J. S. Rae. Choysa Cup, for horse-jumping events: Black Bros, and Reid Bros., equal. South British Cup. for dairy cattle: T. Mitchell. Lister Cup. for pedigree dairy stock: J. S. Rae. Friesian Cup. for Friesian classes: Neil Carter. Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Company's special prize, for registered pedigree stock under two years of age: J. S. .Rae. Friesian Gold Medal: Neil Carter. Mitchell Cup, for Roniney class: E. P. Woolfield. Overall gold nedal. for sheep classes: E. P. "Woolfield. Peebles prize, for grain and vegetable classes: G. Ansel!. Keegan Cup. for best essay on afforestation in New Zealand by school child: M. Coblediek. TAURANGA FIXTURE. HOUSES AND DAIRY CATTLE. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] TAURANGA, Wednesday. The Tauranga Agricultural and Fastoral Association's show was held to-day in fin» weather. Entries were strong in all classes, but. were not up to last year's record. Hacks and cobs were particularly good, but harness horses were disappointing. Dairy cattle were generally of good quality. Jerseys predominating in numbers, with strong entries in Friesians and Shorthorns.
