As Mr. Desmond Jenkins arrived at Auckland from Wellington on Monday too late for the train to Opua, he engaged an aeroplane to enable him to attend his mother's funeral on Tuesday morning. The pilot had to fly from the NinetyMile Beach to Auckland to pick up Mr. Jenkins. On his return a landing was made in the dusk at Otaha, 16 miles from Russell.
