TWO FLIERS FOUND.
DOWN IN SOUTHERN ITALY. HAMILTON SLIGHTLY HURT. (Received February 23, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Feb. 22. Tlie Home correspondent of the British United Press reports that Flight-Lieuten-ant L. Hamilton and Flying-Officer R. K. C'oupland, who left England on Uliursdav on a flight, to Australia and back, and who were overdue at Athens, were found in a field in (lie Apulia district, Southern Italy. Hamilton was suffering from slight injuries but Coupland was not hurt. The former was taken to hospital. The airmen crashed on Friday night, hitting the rocky sides of a hill bidden by a snowstorm. They remained where they fell until Saturday evening, when their cries were heard. The Athens correspondent of the same service says it is learned that the British Legation asked (he Greek Government to refuse petrol supplies to Hamilton and Coupland as t.hey were not authorised to fly over Turkey. It is suggested that- possibly they attempted to fly direct from Rome to Alexandria. In view of snowstorms over the intended route very grave fears had been entertained at Athens for the two airmen, of whom no news had been received for four days.
