On Thursday night Mcsdamcs Brainsby, Uolfe-Smith. Dobson, Griffin, and Miss Virginia McCorniack, entertained the patients at, the Wliangarei District Hospital with an enjoyable programme of musical and elocutionary items. The party was indebted to Mrs. Foote for the use of her car.
A committee of Miss Wrigley's students organised a most enjoyablo dance at Wliangarei, invitations being limited to fellow students and their escorts. The dining room and breakfast room were gaily decorated with streamers. An amusing competition was won by Miss Lillian Ventry-Smith. Miss Barker and Mr. Finlay wore the winners of the prizes for the Monte Carlo dance. Among those present were: Miss Wriglev, Miss Barker, Miss Jean Stewart. Miss L. Webb, Miss Frances Finlay, Miss Alice Hirst, Miss D. Wilson, Miss Gwen Edge, Miss Lillian Ventry-Smith, Miss Zoo Lamare, Miss Fna McKenzie, Miss Molly Atkinson, Miss Nneleen Nicholls, Miss Freda Lacey, Miss Mary Evans.
Some fifty members of the Presbyterian Bible Classes at Wliangarei met in the hall to do honour to two of their members, Miss Edna Gloyn on her approaching marriage, and Miss Enid Brown, who is leaving for Dunedin to enter the Medical School. The first portion of the evening's programme consisted of games, competitions, and musical items. Miss Heather presented Miss Gloyn, 011 behalf of the senior voting women's class, with a silver-mounted salad bowl. Miss Doreen Blunihardt, on behalf of the intermediate young women's class, presented Miss Enid Brown with two handsome books. Rev. Win. Elliott referred to the loss the classes sustained through the departure of these members, and called for volunteers to fill the vacancies.
