Four sisters of the Order of the Good Shepherd arrived in Auckland yesterday from Australia.

Airs. J. S. Brigham and the Misses Brigham returned on Saturday from Taupo, . where they had spent the past four weeks.
Arrangements for a ball to be held on the King's Birthday are being planned by the entertainment committee of the Territorial Association.
Mrs. W. Gray, wife of the principal of the Ladies' Presbyterian College, Melbourne, arrived in Wellington on Monday and is leaving on a visit to Dunedin.
Mrs. A. V. Penn, who has been visiting Rotorua, during the bowling and croquet tournaments, has returned to her home in Great South Road, Remuera.
Miss A. Smart and Miss Marjorie Hare, of Great South Road, Epsom, leave on Friday by the Maunganui for Sydney. They intend being away for a month.
Mrs. J. C. Fittock (Auckland) visited Cairo and the Pyramids on her way to England. She will be staying in Scotland until the summer, writes our London correspondent.
At the meeting of the Auckland branch of the National Council of Women sympathy was expressed with Mrs. George Coats in her severe illness, and it, was decided to send her a letter to that effect.
Miss K. 11. Tunks, daughter of Mr. C. J. Tunks, Arney Road, Remuera, who has spent the past two years as a Karitane nurse in Melbourne and Sydney, arrived by the Maunganui yesterday on a visit to her home. She expects to leave shortly on a trip to England.
The Ponsonby branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union held its first meeting for the year on Thursday afternoon. Miss Read was appointed delegate io represent the Ponsonby branch at, the forthcoming Dominion convention, to be held in Wanganui in March. Miss Hume, a visitor from Canada, was welcomed by the president and spoke briefly The meeting closed with afternoon tea.
A very successful dance was hold by tile Towai Show Association. There was a large attendance, including visitors from other parts of the district. Among those present were:—Mrs. L. Williams, Mrs. F. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent on the Waitemata croqtiet lawns on Thursday, when the president, Mrs. J. R. McPhail, gave an "At Home" to the members of the club. Progressive croquet was played, the winners being A, Mrs. Bailey; B, Mrs. Robertson. Afternoon tea was served in the pavilion, the tables having been decorated with the club's colours. Mrs. Hubble, on behalf of the members, thanked the president for the very pleasant afternoon. Among those present were:—Mrs. J. R. McPhail (president), Mesdames Hubble, Rose, Bailey, Robertson, Millington, Hurley, Baithwaite, Isbister, Horan, Cross, Wilkins, Maddox, McDonald, Lockie.
