INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT.

POWER BOARD SUGGESTIONS. A circular letter, setting out the functions of the recently-appointed Development of Industries Committee and asking for the suggestion of matters it might consider, was received at a meeting of the Auckland Power Board yesterday from the Auckland Manufacturers' Association. The general manager, Mr. P. 11. Bartley, said he had in mind two matters. One was the inspection of machinery, including charges, and the inspection of electric installations generally, including charges. Both were matters in which economies could be effected. The committee might deal with the duplication of inspections generally. Mr. T. Bloodworth: We could suggest some ways in which the uses of electricity could be further developed. "We have plenty of cheap power available for use in any factories that might be starting." said Mr. S. J. Harbutt. "That would be something for them to start on."

The letter was referred to the general manager to report.
