SUCCESS AT SECOND START. Moko Girl scored her first win in (lie I rial Handicap, for which she won second favourite to Lucky Voyage, the two between lliem carrying over half the total investments. It was not an exciting lace, for most of the field broke at. various stages.. \\ in Huon, Tiwha and Lady Ena moved away best and along the back Tiwlm led from Lady Kna, with a gap of six lengths to Win Huon, followed by Lucky Voyage Bnd Moko Girl. Lady Kna broke and Tiwha led past the stands the second time, attended by Moko Giri and Zanzibar. These Were the only ones with chances. Moko Girl waited on Tiwha until they straightened nll for the run home and then went away to beat him by three longths, with Zanzibar only half a head away third. Then ciiine Gold Realm. Windchat and Lucky Voyage. Moko Girl owed her success to steadiness, for except for being slow to begin, she trotted without a mistake. Both Tiwha and Zanzibar were very tired at the end and the others were well beaten. Pegaway and Free Logan were best supported in the Waiheke Handicap, but both lost ground at the start and it was left to the third favourite. Prince F.tawah, to win in good style.. Stormy Mack, Prince Etawah, Mazda and Worthy Cause were the, early leaders and they soon established a commanding advantage over the others, who were well strung out. "Worthy Guuso had run up second to Stormy Mac pussinu the stands and along the buck he was taken to the front, with Prince E taw ah in pursuit. Prince Etawah forged ahead crossing tue top and he drew away to win by tareo lengths from Worthy Cause, with Pegu way a similar distance away third and another three lengths to Mazda, with Our Mac and Free Logan next. Prince Etawah paced very solidly and gave L. Lnver his first winning drive. Worthy Cause also went well. Pcgaway made tip a great deal of ground over the last half-mile and it seemed that both he and Free Logan were unlucky. Free Logan had to be pulled rp through meeting with interference just after the start and although for a time he showed speed he was always well back Oiahuhu Handicap Contest.

Auto Machine, an odds-ou favourite in the Otahuhu Handicap, won decisively after being very prominent in tho running throughout. Gold Dial tangled at the start and Impromptu led out from Enawali, Gold Treasure, Kelson Tasker and Auto Machine. Auto Machine ran up second to Impromptu rounding the turn and remained in that position passing the. stands, followed by Enawah, Nelson Tasker, Gold Treasure and The Abbey. Impromptu and Nelson Tasker, pulling up, last. There was never an.v doubt about Auto Machine's superiority and ho was driven a good race. The Abbey's forward running was a surprise and Mountain Doll and Gold Dial finished on well after being tailed oC. Bingen Crest Beats Travis. Travis was the popular fancy in the Papakura Handicap, but in a good finish was defeated bv the second favourite, Bingen Crest. Bell Dial was first away and led past the stands from Travis and Some Dillon. At the end of half a mile Travis was in front from Gaza and Bell Dial. 'The field bunched up turning out of the straight for the final round and Bingc.il Crest ian up second to Travis along the back. Turning for home Travis. Bingen Crest and Dad's Hope were well clear of Kewpie's Triumph, and in the run to the post Bingen Crest wore down Travis to beat him nicely by balf a lengtn. Dad's Hope was a similar distance away third, and Kewpie's Triumph was two and a-half lengths away fourth, followed by Bell Dial. Master Huia, Some Dillon and Dan Direct. » Bingen Crest, who was confidently driven by F. J. Smith, stayed on well. It was only in the last little bit that Travis weakened. Kewpie's Triumph w/;s left with too much ground to make up in the last lialfmile. Modern Light's Victory.^ Modem Light demonstrated her improvement in form by lea;ding from, the start-in the Mount Albert Handicap, for which sho was favourite over Raydus and Gifrndigger. Realty repeatedly reared up at the post, and for a time lay on tho ground. .In the actual start he got away all right, the early order being Modern Light. Cleao and Realty. There was no change for a round, at which 6tage Typist, Rolfo Audubon, Prince Pedro and Oliver Thorpe were next. Prince Pedro moved tip along tho back and Raydus. who bad hern a long way back after being slow to begin, also made a fast run. Entering the straight Modern Light led from Prince Pedro. Raydus, Typist and Great Fame, and in the final run Modern Light easily held her own to win two lengths from Prince Pedro, with Great Fame a similar distance away third. Myrtlene was fourth, and Raydus, Rolfe Audubon and Typist next. This was Modern Light's first win for nearly two years, and she did it well. Raydus displayed good speed after being hopelesf-i*' in the rear. Margaret Wallace stayed on the mark. The February Handicap proved to be simply a procession, Royal Triumph, who was nearly an even money favourite in the five-horse field, leading from end to end. Roi Grande was slow away and soon tailed off. At tlie end of a mile Royal Triumph had a lead of 20 lengths from Valloden. Paradigm and Kolmar. Ho was allowed to take it easily and entering the straight for tie run home he was six lengths clear of Paradigm. Kewpie's Triumph, whose time when ho ran fourth in the mile and adialf race earlier in the day was 3.25 4-5. improved upon that effort to win the Moss Davis Handicap, 11 miles, in 2.50 1-5. Auto Machine, Kewaie's Triumph and Kewpie's Guy were the favourites. Auto Machine got away badly and Olandore led early from Kewpie's Triumph, Ncila Diiion and Kewpie's Guy. Passing the stands Kewpie's Triumph was in front, followed by Glandorc, Nel'a Dillon. Kewpie's Guy, Te Wahia and Benefice. These were the only ones with chances. Kewpie's Guy then moved up. and siie followed Kewpie's Triumph ncioss the top and into the straight, with C;iandore. IS'ellu Dillon, Benefice and To Wahia next. In a good finish Kewpie's Triumph held off Kewpie's Guy to win by a. neck, with Te Wahia half a length away third, and Nella Dillon. Glandore. Auto Machine and Benefice next. Kewpie's Triumph was on the rails throughout, whereas in his previous race he was 48yds. behind and had to cover a good deal of ground. Even so, there was a marked difference in his performance. His halfsister. Kewpie's Guy. ran a good race for second, and Te Wahia, who did not have tho best of runs, did well to set third. Auto Machine lost his chance at the start and so did first Flight.

Oliver Thorpe, who. like the previous winner, was having his second outing, won the Railway Handicap i.i good style. In his previous nice ho broke crossing the top. but on this occasion he did nothing wiong. He was third to Charming Pronto and Poi passing the stands.
