The .Auckland 1 rotting Club s February meeting was opened at Epsom under favourable conditions yesterday, after being postponed on Saturday on account of wet weather. For an off-day (lie attendance was pood and the track, although dead, was in good order. Auto Machine, favourite for the OtaTuihu Handicap, -won decisively, but when started again in the Moss Davis Handicap he refused to leave the mark v correctly, and was well beaten. Kewpie's Triumph, who had previously failed to run'up to expectations in the Papakura i / Handicap, won the Moss Davis Handi- ' cap in fine style. The racing throughout was interesting and, with tho exception of the saddle race, well favoured candidates were prominent. No fewer than seven Epsom-trained horses were successful. After the Railway Handicap, an inquiry was held into alleged interference by 'Gaza, who finished second. It was found that L. Mahoney, riding Gaza, was guilty of interference after leaving the straight, and iie was fined £2, the horse being placed third, and Poi who was favourite, was placed second.
