INTOXICATED IN CAR.
FINE OF £25 IMPOSED. A fine of £25 was imposed on Neil Clifford McLean, solicitor, aged 36, wJaen charged before Sir. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court" yesterday, with being in a state <?f. intoxication while in charge of s motor-car in Calliope Road, Devonport, on February 21. A plea of guilty was entered, counsel for accused stating that the story was the ordinary one of a man who had been to a party. "The car had collided with an unlighted milk-cart, counsel adding that he believed it to be a practice for milkmen to take lights from their vehicles while attending their rounds. Constable Butler said the milkman concerned had stated that bis cart was lighted. There was no light when the constable reached the scene of the accident, but the milkman showed a damaged . lamp. In imposing the fine, the magistrate remarked that the practice of leaving vehicles unlighted in streets should be Stopped.
