LOSSES BY FIRE.

BOARDING-HOUSE AT HUNTLY MAN LOSES BELONGINGS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HUNTLY, Sunday. Fire totally destroyed a ten-roomed dwelling situated in Glasgow Street, Huntly, at an early hour yesterday morning. Four boarders had to make a hasty exit and one, Mr. J. Aitchison, lost all his belongings, including a roll of banknotes. None of the contents of the house was saved. The premises were owned by Mr, E. W. Sheeran, of Auckland, and were occupied by Mr. ,7. Shaw, who let a number of rooms to boarders. He visited Hamilton on Saturday afternoon and did not return until late yesterday. The fire spread rapidly. An adjoining house, owned and occupied by Mr. H. J. R. Sheeran, a son of Mr. E. W. Sheeran, tfas endangered and the sides were, badly scorched. Several windows were also broken by the heat and the precaution was taken of removing most of the furniture. The destroyed building was insured for £IOOO in the Australia Alliance office. The contents were insured for £2OO. ROTORUA HOME BURNED. FAMILY'S HURRIED ESCAPE. [BV TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ROTORUA, Saturday. A fire broke out at 2 o'clock this morning in the house of Mr. William Berryman, of Tarawera Road. Mr. Berryman awoko to find -the house well alight and he scarcely had timo to rescue his wife and four children. The latter had to be lowered from a window. When tho brigade reached the scene, the house was a mass of flames and nothing could be done to save it. The house was insured for £375., but the furniture was not insured.
