OUTDOOR RELIEF.
HOSPITAL BOARD'S BURDEN. EXPENDITURE IN ' CANTERBURY. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION. 1 CHRISTC'HURCH. Saturday. So heavy has been the demand for outdo'or relief that for the year ended March 31 the North Canterbury Hospital Board is faced with an expenditure 75 per cent greater than the estimate, which was £20.000. Up to the end of January £27,655 had been spent., and by March 31 tho amount is expected to reach £34,000 or £35,000. The benovolent committee of the board is dealing each week with about 1150 applications for outdoor relief, and the chairman and members spent several days last week at, the hospital interviewing applicants.
