OVERSEAS FREIGHT.
CONFERENCE AT SYDNEY. INCREASED RATES NOT PRESSED. (Received February 21. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 21. Overseas shipowners have decided not to press for increased freight rates, but their contribution to the exchange rate on freight is to be withdrawn. This is the outcome of the Australian Overseas Transport Association's Conference, which has been adjourned. No definite agreement was reached, but it is expected that the various committees will bo able to reach satisfactory terms without another meeting of the council.
