DISARMAMENT ISSUE.
KING'S DEEP INTEREST. 'OPPORTUNITY FOR CHURCH. LONDON, Feb. 19. In the white arid gold Throne Room of Buckingham Palace the King replied to addresses by tho Archbishops of Canterbury and York, who were accompanied by other clergy. His Majesty, addressing the Archbishop* of Canterbury, said he fully shared their hopes and prayers for success at the Disarmament Conference at Genev;*. The Government would do its utmost and exert itself in order to secure the largest possible measure of disarmament. Addressing the Archbishop of York, the King emphasised the point that this was the Church's opportunity to bring the truths of Christianity to bear on current problems. The fortitude of Britons in facing their difficulties had shown the world that the spirit of unity and mutual sacrifice still lived.
