READY FOR EMERGENCY. i CO-OPERATION WITH BRITISH. (Received Februnry 21, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 21, A message from London states that the Sketch says arrangements have been made for the Australian Navj; to cooperate with the British $s T avy in the event of emergency measures becoming necessary at Shanghai to safeguard British interests. The seagoing unit of the Australian Navy is now engaged in a summer cruiso and at present is at Hobart, whence it could bo despatched practically at a moment's notice to the Far East. The cruisers Canberra and Australia could Teach Shanghai iu about, 10 days.
