RIFLE SHOOTING.

AUCKLAND CITY CLUB. In spit« of the inclement weather on Saturday a fair number of City Club riflemen atteuded the mid-range shoot for the third round of the fourth trophy series. H. Simmonds secured tho first, possible of the season at GOO yards This gave him a total of 99 points off the rifle. This is the highest score over the middle ranges for many years. The trophy joints were allotted as follows:—H. Simmonds. 3: F. Bowes. 2; A. G. Hewitt, 1. The two first-mentioned each won a silver spoon. Tho best scores off the rifle "were as follows:—H. Simmonds, 49, 50—99; P. J. Pring, 49, -16—95; W. Thompson, 47. 415—93: G. G. Kelly, 46, 46—02; A. G. Hewitt. 47. 44—91; F. Bowes, 49. 42—91; C. J. M. Clark, 44, 44—53; A. J. Pieterson. 47, 40—87; A. G. Degenkolbe. 39, 46—65; A. Doel. 39. 45—84; J. A. Spry, 44. 40—84; C. J. Robieson, 42 , 38—SO. There will be a championship servie* shoot on the 200 and 800 yards ranges »t Penrose next Saturday. AKARANA CLUE. The members of the Akarana Rifle Club fired their fourth shoot of the third trophy series over the ranges o£ 500 and 600 yards. Conditions were fair and some good shooting was recorded. Silver spoons were won by W. Powell, R. Wakefield and A. M. Jenkinson. Details of the shootirg are as follows: Section A (trophy presented- by Mr. W . B. Leyland).—W.
