Vincent last evening:— The cyclone has passed eastward, but a secondary disturbance has developed at the rear of the main storm system. An intense westerly depression has also moved on to the South Island. Expect cold, unsettled, and wintry weather, with heavy showers, particularly in western and southern districts. Hail and thunder probable in places near the west coast. Westerly to south-westerly winds, strong to gale. Rough to heavy seas on the west coast,, and rough in the Bay of Plenty. Local outlook: Squally, with heavy showers. Cold temperatures. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 29.65 in, Midnight, Saturday .. -• 2D.85m. Temperature in shade yesterday 'to midnight)— Maximum. 75des.; Minimum, 64des. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government, meteorologist reported last, evening as follows: —-'J ho cyclone which was responsible for the recent rains is now centred north of Chatham Islands and a depression of a westerly type is crossing tho south 'lasman Sea. Indications are for winds between south and west and moderate to strong, varying later to north-west in places. Seas rather rough to rough generally. Moderate to strong south-westerly to north-westerly winds in the eastern 'lasman Sea. Seas lathei .rough to rough.
