SHOW RING RECORD.

EXHIBITOR FOR 50 YEARS. MR. BULLOCK WEBSTER'S SUCCESS The splendid record of Mr. H. Bullock Webster as an exhibitor in the light horse and hunter classes at the Auckland Show during the past 50 years was referred to by the president, Mr. J. T. F. Mitchell, at a meeting of the committee of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday afternoon. In extending the congratulations of the association to Mr. Bullock Webster, Mr. Mitchell said that his was a record probably unequalled by any other exhibitor in the Dominion. He hoped that he would carry on as an exhibitor for many more years. Mr. Bullock Webster, in reply, said that he had always, even as a boy in England, taken a great interest in show work. His diary showed that in 1882 hp, made his first appearance as an exhibitor at the Auckland Show and he had exhibited regularly ever since then. He spoke of the great physical benefits to be derived from bringing in new horses and he urged all exhibitors to see that new horses were brought into the ring each year. Mr. Webster urged that, judging for hunter classes should depend not solely on jumping ability. What was needed was a horse of good constitution, fit to carry a rider over eight or ten miles of country. He was pleased to know that the Auckland association had definitely instructed its judges to take type into serious consideration when awarding prizes in the hunter classes.
