BRAIN FOOD.

The " bun and milk " lunch, a type of mid-day meal common t.o many city workers, has been condemned; but there is a lot to be said for it. For those who have (o sit down all day in offices it is a good thing not to eat too much. A large meal in the middle of the day needs time to digest, and the blood used for this purpose is taken from the brain as well as from other parts. This results in a feeling of drowsiness and an incapacity for concentrating on your work. " Fuel foods " are required for the brain worker as much as for the manual worker, and these are contained in starches, sugars and from fats. Therefore meat is not an essential at lunch-time. A good breakfast, a light lunch, a, cup of tea in the afternoon and a good dinner or supper at night are tha ideal meals for the sedentary worker.
