It is a new " mascot," which commemorates her engagement for Drury Lane's " Cavalcade ' after many years of continuous and almost heart-breaking bad luck. And this most happy change was preceded and signalised, it seems, by the most unusual happening of two wild swans flying over her home in Warley, the great birds being first sighted when she was leaving for London one morning. They were still there circling round and round continuously when she returned home four hours later after a momentous interview which had ensured the best part and chance of her life.
