IN HIS 78TH YEAR.
THE QUEEN'S TREASURER. It has been known for some time past that Sir Edward Wallingtcn, owing to advancing age, was very anxious to be relieved of his appointment as Treasurer of the Queen's Household. This is to take place almost immediately. Since the death of the late Viscount Stamfordham, he has been the doyen of the Royal Household, and is now in his 78th year. It will be recalled that he was the victim a few months ago of a London street accident. Upon that occasion he was foriunate in escaping serious injury, but he was very badly shaken up, and is still feeling the effects. It is possible that Her Majesty will select her present private secretary, Sir Harry Verney, to fill the vacancy.
