HOSPITAL AUXILIARY.

MEETING OF COUNCIL. Preparations for resuming work for the coming year were reported by th© various committees of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary at tho first council meeting, which was held on Wednesday. Mrs. E A. Kidd presided. Dr. Elaine Gurr, a new associate member, was welcomed. It was reported that the work of the purchasing and distributing committee had been carried on as required by the depot.. Parcels of made-up garments were received from Silverdale, Henderson, Te Atatu and Glen Eden Women'? Institutes, and parcels of cut-oufc garments from , tho New Lynn and Birkdale Institutes. Further donations of clothing, books and jam were received at the depot for distribution among needy families. A number of scrap books, which had been made and Bent by tho Te Atatu Girls' Club, were very much appreciated by tho children to whom they were given. The J.C.L. Girls' . Club had supplied Christmas fare to several of the most needy families. The sum of 5s was given to each needy T.B. case during the Christmas recess by the Mount Eden branch of the auxiliary. Mrs. H. Bolitho reported that the sum of £5 was received from the hotel collecting boxes. An appeal for discarded ear-phones for tho use of hospital patients was mado by tho convener of the wireless committee, who said that if a number of those were donated, many more patients would be able to enjoy the wireless which is installed at the hospital.
