Miss M. Macaulay, of Hamilton, is at the Station Hotel. Mrs. M. S. McAt'thur, of Timaru, is visiting Auckland, and is staying at Hotel Cargen. Mrs. Arthur H. Bridge, of Fendalton, Christchurch, has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. Herbert. Knox, of the United States, is visiting Auckland, and is staying at Hotel Cargen. Mrs. 0. J. Thedens, of Heme Bay. will leave by the Mariposa on Monday on a visit to Australia. Mrs. M. E. Butcher, of Station Torrace, Romuera, is at present on a tour of the Waikato district. Mrs. Boxill, of Barbadoes, with Miss J. Edmiston, of Takapuna, are staying at The Chateau Tongariro. The Rev. E. H. Patchett and Mrs. Patchett are the guests of Mrs. J. Moffat, Cashmere Hills, Christchurch. Mrs. J. H. Hubber and Miss M.' Hubber, of Kohimarania, will leave by the Mariposa on Monday for Sydnoy. Miss G. Mills and Miss A. Mills, of King Edward Avenue, Epsom, are spending a holiday at The Bungalow, Rotorua. Mrs. Leslie Averill, Ben ley Avenue, Christchurch, who has been visiting Morrinsvillo and Auckland, has returned home. Mrs. S. Lawson, who has the guest of Mrs. S. P. Stacpoole, Eversleieh Road, Takapuna, will return to New Plymouth to-day. Mrs. J. A. Peck and Miss P. Peck, of Sydney, have returned to Auckland from a visit to Rotorua, and are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. W. Fowler and Miss A. Ellis, of Geelong, Victoria, are at the Station Hotel. They will leave for Sydney by the Mariposa on Monday. Colonel and Mrs. Lister, who have arrived in New Zealand from England, via India, are at present the guests of Mrs. George Gould, Fendalton, Christchurch. Lady Nolan, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. H. R. H. Chalmers, of Brighton Road, Parnell, is away on a motor trip to Wanganui, Tongariro and Wellington. Mrs. N. Miller, of Western Springs Road, has returned from a motor tour to Rotorua and surrounding districts, ac, companied by Mr. and Mrs. A. Mune, 01 Ba, Fiji. Mrs. A. Newman, who has been spending somo weeks as the guest of Mi's. H. Radcliffe, Pukehana, Carlton Gore Road, will leave by the Mariposa on Monday on an extended tour abroad. The weekly meeting of the Mothers' Club, Y.W.C.A., was held on Tuesday, presided over by Mrs. Mann. Mr. Griffiths, of Groy Lynn Church of Christ, gave an interesting address on "Parental Control."Sister Margaret Jeffreys, of Auckland, who is a representative to the annual conference of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, which opened at Christchurch on Thursday, is the guest of Mrs. L. L. Jones, St. Albans. The monthly meeting of the Devonport W.C.T.U. was held on Wednesday- in the Congregational Church, Mrs. Williams presiding. The president read an interesting paper on the work of the Women s Christian Temperance Union. Francis Willard Day was observed. Mrs. W. E. Brown, sen., who has been visiting her son, Mr. Allan Brown and family, Milford Road, has left for Christchurch to spend a holiday with her daughter, Mrs. R. Hardy Smith She will later visit her son, Mr. R. Wilson Brown, St. Clair, Dunedin. An address on " Tho Spirit of Nationalism " was given bv the Rev. J. A. Thompson at, a meeting of the Women's Progressive Club of tho Y.W.G.A. on Thursday. A vote of thanks was passed to tho speaker at the conclusion of his address. Supper and music concluded a very pleasant evening. The first- meeting of the year of the Otahuhu Women's Christian Temperance Onion ,was held in the Methodist schoolroom on Thursday afternoon._ The gathering took the form of a social afternoon, musical items being given by Miss Clark, Miss Moffett, Miss H. Johnston, and Miss Phyllis Johnston, and a recitation by Mrs. Eccersall. Mrs. Htich Kasper spoke on the responsibility of each member of the union. Afternoon tea was served by members, after which Mrs. Kasper initiated two new members.
