BUTTER-FAT COMPETITION.
estimates of production. FRANKLIN SHOW RESULTS. [from: our. own correspondent.] PUKEKOHE. Friday. Advice was received by the Franklin Agricultural and Pastoral Society from the New Zealand Co-operative Herd Testing Association to-day that the winner of the butter-fat estimating competition at the society's show last Saturday was Mr. 11. J. Bay nor, of Pukekohe, who placed all five cows in correct order of butter-fat production. Mr. Angus F. Glasgow, of Onewhero, secured second prize, and Mr. H. Dux-field, of Horotiu, third prize. The correct butter-fat production of the cows was: —Cow No. 2, 2711b. fat; No. 5, 2561b.; No. 1, 2361b.; No. 4, 2181b.; "No. .3, 16811). In the weight-estimating competitions, the winners# were:—Fat cow, Messrs. L. Mitchell and J. D, Watkins (equal). Bullock, Mr. W. Townsend. Tig, Mr. W. Smith. Sheep, Mr. A. Rao. Aggregate weight-estimating of cow, bullock, pig and sheep, Mr. L. Mitchell. The points prizes in the hall section wereßutter, eggs, honey and other homo products: Mrs. David Roulston. Bread, cakes, etc.: Miss C. Jamieson. Bottled fruit, sauces and pickles: Miss 11. M. Phillips; Art and plain needlework: Miss B. Parker. Onions and potatoes: Mr. 11. A. Adams. Farm and garden produce: Mr. T. Reynolds. Fruit: Mr. J. J. McKinney. Floral artistry: Mrs. W. McEwan. Cut flowers: Mr. E. Allan.
