HEAVY FINE IMPOSED.

CONVEYANCE OF WHISKY. DISTRIBUTOR TO PAY £2OO. [by telegraph.—press association.] IXVERCARGILL, Friday. A fine of £2OO, in default 12 months' imprisonment, was imposed upon John Farquhar Mcßae, in the Police Court today, for conveying spirits on which full duty had not been paid. Accused took 17 bottles of whisky to a hairdresser's shop, where the liquor was seized. Tho prosecution stated that accused was a distributing agent for an illicit distillery. The magistrate expressed the view that he was equally culpable with the distiller.
